Signing options

Uploaded signatures look natural

Photograph your signature on white paper and we strip out the paper, so it doesn’t sit in a grey box.

Initials on every page

Place your initials once and copy them to the same spot on every page. Leases and contracts often ask for this.

Nothing saved

Your signature exists only while this page is open. We don’t keep it, and there’s no account to store it in.

Is a signature added like this legally valid?

For most everyday documents in the UK (consent forms, quotes, many contracts) an electronic signature, which includes an image of your signature, is generally capable of being legally binding. Some documents come with extra rules. Deeds usually need a witness, for example, and property and government processes often have their own systems.

This kind of signature shows you meant to sign. It doesn’t prove who signed or that the document hasn’t been changed since; a certificate-based digital signature does both, and PDF365 doesn’t create those. There’s more in our guide to electronic and digital signatures, and how to sign a PDF without printing it covers the built-in options on Mac, iPhone, Windows and Android. This is general information rather than legal advice; if a document matters a lot, check with whoever asked you to sign or with a solicitor.

Privacy and security

A picture of your signature is worth keeping private. Here it’s created and saved entirely on your device, then thrown away when you leave the page. Before sending, you might also flatten the PDF so the signature can’t be moved.
