How to convert PDF to JPG

  1. Open the PDF

All pages start ticked. Click any you don’t want, or type a range like 2-4.

  2. Set resolution and quality

150 DPI suits most uses. Pick 300 DPI if you’re printing.

  3. Convert

Pages are drawn one by one; a single page downloads straight away, more come as a ZIP.

PDF to JPG features

Renders like Firefox does

We use Mozilla’s PDF.js, the same engine Firefox uses to show PDFs, so fonts, drawings and transparency come out as they look on screen.

Choose the size

At 150 DPI an A4 page becomes about 1,240 × 1,754 pixels. At 300 DPI it’s roughly 2,480 × 3,508, which is print quality.

Files named by page

Images are called brochure-page-03.jpg and so on, so they stay in order wherever you put them.

When to pick JPG and when to pick PNG

JPG is the right call for scans and pages with photos. Files are far smaller and you’d struggle to see the difference. For pages that are mostly text, diagrams or screenshots, PDF to PNG keeps edges sharper and can leave the background transparent.

One thing to bear in mind: once a page is an image, its text can’t be selected or searched. Keep the PDF if you might need to copy from it later.

Privacy and security

Pages are rendered on your device and saved straight to your downloads. The PDF isn’t uploaded, which matters if you’re converting something like a passport scan for an application form.
