Crop features

Live shading on your page

The part being cut off is darkened, and you can flick through pages to check each one.

Each side on its own

Lose a wide scanner strip down one edge without touching the others.

Works on rotated pages

Margins are measured on the page as you see it, even if it’s stored sideways in the file.

Cropping hides, it doesn’t delete

Cropping a PDF sets what’s called the crop box: the window viewers and printers show. Whatever falls outside it disappears from view but is still stored in the file, and anyone who edits the crop box can bring it back.

So it’s perfect for neatening margins, and the wrong tool for hiding something confidential. To remove whole pages use Delete Pages. To change paper size and scale the content to fit, use Resize Pages.

Privacy and security

Cropping happens in your browser with nothing uploaded. Remember that the trimmed-off area is still inside the file, so don’t rely on cropping to hide private details.
